Do You Want to Build a Snowman? | Frozen Inspired Photo Shoot

Some of you may remember last summer's photo shoot with my older daughter, inspired by the movie, Epic. Well, ever since then, we've been looking for something special for my youngest....and when we saw Disney's movie, Frozen, we kinda knew we had a winner. We certainly haven't been low on snow this year...or cold, for that matter. But, it really was a question of timing. There's a funny thing about snow. Namely, it is COLD! And to be perfectly honest, as "fun" as a shoot in a blizzard sounded....well, it sounded equally as UN-fun to actually freeze in the snow. So, I'll be honest...I kind of put it off. Until today.

Today was the 37th snow day this year (well, ok, I exaggerate, but it FEELS like the 37th snow day!) and my daughter was determined that today was the day for the shoot.

Heaven knows we had the snow. I was convinced. :)  What my little one didn't quite expect, however, was how very cold it actually was! She is layered in long johns and thick socks and boots...but, guess what? She isn't really Queen Elsa (I know. You can't believe it!) and ball gowns in the snow are CHILL-LEE!!! We had big plans originally...billowing chiffon in the wind. Some cool lighting as the sun went down. But my little Queen Elsa was quickly turning into a popsicle.

So we shot fast. I took probably ten total shots, including shots just to get my settings. And then we hustled in for some hot chocolate.

Still, we made some memories in those ten minutes outside on our frozen little snow day. And, I think,  maybe, we made a little magic, too. :)
